Church Theft – Village of Stoddard

During the early part of July, 2010, a church in Stoddard was entered and some items were stolen. Stolen items included a lock box, cash and numerous gift cards from Quillins, Culver’s and Kwik Trip were stolen. Some of the gift cards were used to purchase food items at Quillin’s in LaCrosse. The suspects are a male and female.

Armed Robbery – Marys Quick Stop in Viroqua

On August 16th 2010 at 10:15 p.m. the Viroqua Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at Mary’s Quick Stop at 726 N. Main Street in Viroqua.

The suspect came in through a back door and displayed a knife. The suspect fled the scene on foot and was last seen headed north, with an un-determined amount of money. The suspect was described as wearing black clothing, wearing a Halloween mask with reflective tape on the face portion of the mask.

Battery and Gas Theft in Genoa

Vernon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help. On Friday May 21st 2010, the Sheriff’s Department was called to investigate the theft of 15 to 18 Marine Batterys and between 20 and 40 gallons of 2 cycle gasoline.

The Theft occurred in the late evening/early morning hours. When a vehicle drove into River Road Marine, located just off STH 56 east of Genoa. The suspect(s) removed the batterys from various boats that were being serviced and also removed gasoline from the various boat tanks.

Gas Theft at Snowflake Ski and Golf Club

On Monday May 3rd 2010 a gas theft was reported at the Snowflake Ski and Golf Club in Timber Coulee.

Sometime between late Sunday night and early Monday morning, two suspects broke off a lock and hose to a diesel tank, in attempt to steal the diesel fuel. The suspects then broke the filter off of a 150 gallon gasoline tank. As the fuel began to empty from the tank, the suspects attempted to catch or contain the gasoline in buckets. A large amount of the 150 gallons of gasoline poured onto the ground around the tank. Sheriff’s Department, Fire and Haz-Mat personel responded to the scene.

Area ATV Thefts

Vernon County Crime Stopper’s is asking for your help for information, regarding area ATV Thefts.

On Sunday February 21st 2010, a 2005 Honda Rincon 650 ATV, vin# 1HFTE280654017583, with ATV stickers #185367 and AT1031CC was taken from Skrede Road. On March 23rd 2010 a report of a 2003 Polaris 500, red/black/grey in color with Vin# 4XAGJ50A932177597, was taken from along Brookville Road and US 14. On March 29th 2010 a report of a 2008 Polaris 700 Sportsman X2, with Vin# 4XATN68AX8A537258, green in color was taken from along STH 56, west of Viroqua. On Saturday 04/10/10 a report of a Youth Style 2009 Kazuma Falcon 150 cc ATV, Vin# L6UB4GA218A017681 was taken from the east side of Viroqua.

All ATV’s were parked along a public roadway and in sight of the public. If you have information on these thefts, please contact Vernon County Crime Stopper’s. If you own an ATV or recreation vehicle, you are urged to secure the vehicle away from the public view.

Break In – City of Viroqua

Sometime on Monday night, September 7, 2009, or the early hours of Tuesday, September 8, 2009, Burke’s Tire and Auto in the City of Viroqua was broken into. Entry was gained to the business by breaking a window to one of the doors. Areas of the business had been ransacked.

Criminal Damage – Viroqua Elementary School

Sometime on Sunday night, June 7, 2009, or the early morning hours of Monday, June 8, 2009, three windows at the Viroqua Elementary School in the City of Viroqua had been broken by a rock that was thrown through the windows. The windows were damaged and all of the windows were from the same classroom.

Burglary – Hillsboro/Elroy Area

Sometime during the night of April 13, 2009 or early morning hours of April 14, 2009, a number of household items were stolen from a residential pole shed on County Road W in the Town of Hillsboro between Hillsboro and Elroy. Some items that were stolen include the following: Troy-Bilt garden tiller, Magic Chef refrigerator, old Stihl chainsaw, red 5-gallon plastic gas can, totes, heavy duty fishing poles, meat saw (commercial grade), portable heater and a 16-foot silver Warner tri-fold aluminum ladder.

Theft – Hillsboro Area

Sometime between March 20-23, 2009, a theft occurred along the road on County Road V near St. Patrick Rd in the Town of Greenwood south of Hillsboro. Taken in the theft was about 15-20 cut logs consisting of a hardwood mixture of Ash, Oak and Hickory. The logs were about 45 inches in diameter and were quite long. The logs were possibly cut up before being taken away from the area. �
